Russian Attack on Sumy in Ukraine

People had congregated to celebrate Palm Sunday in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy when Russian missiles struck the centre of the city. The second significant incident in Ukraine in less than a week claimed the lives of at least 34 people.

The two ballistic missiles struck at around 10:15 a.m. local time, according to authorities. Additional dead covered in foil blankets were visible among the rubble, and footage from the incident showed rows of black body bags on the side of the road.

In an effort to kill as many people as possible, cluster bombs were also utilised in the strike, according to Andriy Yermak, chief of the Ukrainian presidential office. The assertion was not verifiable by the Associated Press.

Russian assaults on the Kherson area killed a 48-year-old male and two women, ages 62 and 68, according to local governor Oleksandr Prokudin. According to Governor Vadym Filashkin, Russian bombardment of Ukraine’s Donetsk area claimed another life.

Ihor Terekhov, the mayor of Kharkiv, Ukraine, reported that a Russian attack damaged the building’s exterior and broke glass in one of the city’s kindergartens. There were no recorded casualties.

The strikes underscored the challenges of discussions to end the three-year conflict, as senior Russian and Ukrainian officials accused one another of breaking a preliminary deal mediated by the United States to stop attacks on energy infrastructure.
